Brexit (noun)

●即「脫歐」,指英國脫離 「歐盟」,由Britain (英國)和 exit(離開)兩詞縮拼而成。英文報道中關於英國 「脫歐」 公投的正式說法是:The United Kingdom European Union membership referendum, 但通常也簡略地說:the EU referendum 或 Brexit referendum (within the United Kingdom)。

Come down to earth (idiom)

●To become realistic; to become alert to what is going on around one.(回到現實,不再想入非非)

Examples:

1.He has come down to earth and stopped dreaming of being rich.

2.You have a fit of enthusiasm, but you must come down to earth. We can't possibly afford any of your suggestions.

Greenback (noun)

●原指美元紙鈔,現也泛指美元。美國在內戰(1861-1865)前,法定的流通貨幣只有金幣和銀幣。內戰爆發後,聯邦在1861-62年間首次發行紙幣,背面用綠色印刷,俗稱「綠背」(鈔票),故名。

Drop a hint (idiom)

●To give a tiny or careful hint about something; to suggest something without saying it directly.(暗示,露口風,示意)

Examples:

1.She dropped a few hints about some gifts she'd like to get.

2.He was dropping hints that in future he would be taking a back seat in politics.
