  Brew (verb)

  ●If an unpleasant situation or a storm is brewing, you feel that it is about to happen.

  (即將來臨,醞釀)

  Examples:

  1.There was more trouble brewing as the miners went on strike.  

  2.A storm was brewing in the distance.

  Strive to do sth (phrasal verb)

  ●To try hard to do something.(致力,盡力)

  Examples:

  1.Please strive to do it as best you can.  

  2.She strove very hard to do what she had set out to do.

  Stratum (noun)

  ●A level or class to which people are assigned according to their social status, education, or income.((社會)階層、層次)

  Examples:  

  1.The report shows that drugs have penetrated every stratum of American society.  

  2.Women generally have a high status in the working class, but not in other social strata.

  Personification (noun)

  ●The description of an object or an idea as if it had human characteristics.(人格化,個性化)

  Examples:

  1.He is the personification of optimism.  

  2.They paid tribute to the artist as "the personification of excellence."

  Drawn on sth (phrasal verb)

  ●To use information or your knowledge of something to help you do something.

  (從…中吸收,以…為來源)

  Examples:  

  1.As an actor, you often draw on your own life experiences.  

  2.His novels draw heavily on his childhood.
