The upper hand (idiom)

●The dominating or controlling position;   advantage.(佔上風,佔優勢)

Examples:  

1.After hours of fierce negotiations, the president gained/got/had the upper hand.  

2.The last 10 minutes saw the Blues gain the upper hand.

Bring about sth (phrasal verb)

●To cause something to happen.(帶來,產生)

Examples:  

1.Major spending is required to bring about substantial improvements in housing.  

2.This progress was brought about mainly by the work of Einstein and Bohr.

Set out (phrasal verb)

● To start a journey.(出發)

Examples:  

1.After a three-day rest, the travellers set out again.  

2.We set out on our trip exactly as planned.

Appalling (adj.)

●Very bad; awful.(駭人的,可怖的)

Examples:  

1.It was appalling how easily the money slipped through the fingers.  

2.Prisoners were kept in the most appalling conditions.

In hell (idiom)

●Used to make a statement or question more forceful.

Examples:  

1.There is no way in hell I'm going.

2.What in hell is wrong now?
