  Run counter to sth (idiom)

  ●To be in opposition to something; to run against something.(違背,抵觸,與……背道而馳)

  Examples:  

  1.Your proposal runs counter to what is required by the manager.

  2.The article presents facts that run counter to what many of us believed had happened.

  Retroactively (adverb)

  ●With effect from a date in the past before a law, decision, etc. was approved.(追溯地)

  Examples:  

  1.The legislation applies retroactively to January.  

  2.The management retroactively approved some of those expenditures.

  Follow up on sth (phrasal verb)

  ●To enhance the effectiveness of something by means of further action.(跟進,後續行動)

  Examples:  

  1.I followed up on the job interview with an email.

  2.Did you follow up on their request?

  That's all there is to it (idiom)

  ●It is as simple as it seems to be. There is nothing hidden.(這就是所有的一切(全部真相);如此而已,豈有他哉)  

  Examples:  

  1."Everything is energy and that's all there is to it." – Albert Einstein.  

  2.Just plug it in and flip the switch, that's all there is to it.

  Stand/stick out a mile (idiom)

  ●To be very obvious or easy to see.

   (十分明顯,一目了然)

  Examples:  

  1.His lack of experience sticks out a mile.  

  2.The twins' resemblance stood/stuck out a mile.
