  Serve sb right (idiom)

  ●If you say that something bad serves someone right, you mean that that person deserves it.(罪有應得,活該)

  Examples:  

  1.Punish him; it will serve him right for what he has done to you.  

  2.She didn't get the promotion she'd hoped for, which served her right for being so smug.

  Exalt (verb)

  ●To praise a lot; to raise in rank, honor, power, character, quality, etc.(頌揚,吹捧,提升)

  Examples:  

  1.He shamelessly exalts his own role in the peace process.  

  2.He was exalted to the skies(他被吹捧上天).

  Weakling (noun)

  ●Someone who is weak, either physically or in character.(弱者,懦夫)

  Examples:  

  1.Only a weakling would be willing to lie to save himself from punishment.  

  2.It would need more than a few exercises to turn a seven-stone weakling into a heavyweight boxer.

  Persona non grata (noun, plural: personae non gratae)

  ● A person who is not welcome.(不受歡迎的人(來自拉丁語))

  Examples:  

  1.The diplomat was declared persona non grata and asked to leave the country within 48 hours.  

  2.He has become persona non grata in our club since his angry outburst.

  Give sb enough rope to hang himself; give sb enough rope and he'll hang himself (proverb)

  ●A person will bring about his or her own misfortune if given the opportunity.

  (多行不義必自斃;授繩與愚、愚能自縛)

  Examples:  

  1.I let him speak on, knowing that he would offend the director, and give him just enough rope to hang himself.  

  2."I think Sally's been stealing things out of my desk. Should I tell the boss?""No; give her enough rope and she'll hang herself.  One of these days she'll steal something important, the boss will find out for himself, and he'll fire her."
