上周四上海迪士尼樂園正式開幕，不少旅客在樂園門外排隊等候，有的甚至坐在地上，務求成為首批體驗內地首個迪士尼樂園的遊客（Lines were formed outside the entrance gate with people sitting on the ground waiting to be among the first to experience Disney's only park on the Mainland.）。

　　"sitting on the ground"指坐在地上，"ground"在句中指的是地。

　　上周一名政府問責官員出席一個亞洲智能電話應用程式高峰會時發言表示，香港有大批精通科技的人，是新應用程式的最佳試驗場（"Hong Kong, with a large pool of tech-savvy people, is the perfect testing ground for new apps."）。"testing ground"解試驗場所。

　　這陣子，大家都可能留意到歐洲最關心的一項議題是英國公投是否離開歐盟。美國聯儲局上周宣布維持利率不變，投資者紛紛將資金轉到黃金市場避險，香港和內地股票的優勢縮小。有報章以"Hong Kong and China stocks lose ground as investors flee to safe-havens, bid up gold, amid global growth fears"為文章標題。"lose ground"有優勢減少的意思。

　　有機構就英國應否脫離歐盟於月初進行民調，上周公布結果，顯示贊成離開歐盟的比率較支持繼續留歐多百分之二。報道的標題用上了"Leaving is gaining ground"。"gain ground"指的是佔優勢。
