  Devote sth to sth/sb (phrasal verb)

  ●To give all of something, especially your time, effort, or love, to something you believe in or to a person.(專注於,致力於)

  Examples:  

  1.She has devoted all her life to the care of homeless people.  

  2.He's devoted most of his time to his painting.

  Make an exception (phrase)

  ●To deal with someone or something in a different way from usual on a particular occasion only.

  (破一次例,破例)

  Examples:  

  1.I don't usually lend people money, but in your case I'll make an exception.  

  2.I'll make an exception and let you stay up as late as you want.

  Be/get acquainted with sb (phrase)

  ●To know or become familiar with a person.

(結識,認識)

  Examples:  

  1.I am not personally acquainted with the gentleman in question.  

  2.She had been briefly acquainted with him more than 20 years earlier.

  In step with sb/sth (idiom)

  ●In agreement with someone or something.

  (與…合拍,與…一致)

  Examples:  

  1.He is very much in step with the times.  

  2.I hope my ideas are in step with public opinion.

  Hot spot (noun)

  ●A place of significant activity, danger, or violence.

(熱點,有潛在危險的地方)

  Examples:  

  1.Police regard the village as a speeding hot spot because of the long, straight roads in the area.  

  2.This area has become a hot spot.
