The 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) opened in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing yesterday. Xi Jinping delivered his report entitled Secure a Decisive Victory in Building a Moderately Prosperous Society in All Aspects and Strive for the Great Success of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.
In his report Xi Jinping for the first time unveils a two-stage plan for the strategy of national rejuvenation. The report says: China will work hard in two 15-year stages so that by 2035, the end of the first 15-year stage, it will basically realise the socialist modernisation to become an innovative country, and by middle of this century, in another 15 years, become a prosperous, powerful, democratic, harmonious and beautiful "socialist modern country." By then China will "become a global leader in terms of comprehensive national strength and international influence… Common prosperity for everyone is basically achieved."
Seeing these two goals to strive for, all Chinese people cannot help but feel excited and inspired! For what is it that generations and generations of Chinese people have been struggling hard and shedding their blood and sweat? Isn't it for a prosperous, powerful, democratic, harmonious and beautiful "modern China", and for common prosperity for everyone? Today, this target is clearly set by Xi Jinping at the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China!
It should also be pointed out that, Xi's report not only unveils the two-stage plan for the strategy of national rejuvenation and goals for the two 15-year stages respectively, but more importantly he also describes the institutional guarantee, theoretical ground and concrete arrangement for achieving these goals, showing not only determination and capability but also self-confidence and courage that is indispensable for achieving the goals. China enters a new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics and China is set to be built into a socialist modern powerful country, this goal must be achieved and will be achieved. No high mountain or big sea can ever obstruct it.
As a matter of fact, as long as one reads carefully the full text of the report and fully grasps its spirit, one can be sure that the goal can be achieved based on two most important facts: one is the correct leadership of the Communist Party of China with Xi Jinping as the core, and the second is that the goal is fully in accord with the fundamental interests and aspirations of all Chinese people. Without these two, any aspiration, no matter how beautiful it is, cannot but remain an illusion; and any goal, no matter how great it is, cannot but be just some empty talk.
Based on major achievements since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the report further points out that the principal contradiction facing Chinese society has evolved into the contradiction between unbalanced and inadequate development and the people's ever-growing needs for a better life. China has seen the basic needs of over a billion people met, has basically made it possible for people to live decent lives, and will soon bring the building of a moderately prosperous society to a successful completion, so "the needs to be met for the people to live a better life are increasingly broad. Not only have their material and cultural needs grown; their demands for democracy, rule of law, fairness and justice, security, and a better environment are increasing."
From relevant expositions in the report, it can be seen that the Communist Party of China with Xi Jinping as the core being the sole leading power of this a big country with a 1.3 billion population fully grasps and understands currently existing problems and the direction along which such problems can be solved, and it has the wisdom and ready plans to tackle them. （To be continued）
