  Stand to reason (idiom)

  ●To seem reasonable; to see likely to be true.

  (合乎情理,順理成章)

  Examples:  

  1.It stands to reason that it'll be colder in January than it is in November.  

  2.It stands to reason that the more experience you have, the better you'll be at solving problems.

  Stand the test of time (idiom)

  ●To continue to be effective, successful, or popular for a long time.(經得起時間的考驗)

  Examples:  

  1.Look for software that has stood the test of time, not something new and unproven.  

  2.Which songs from the last year will stand the test of time?

  Laughingstock (noun)

  ●A person or thing that is regarded as very foolish or ridiculous.(笑柄,笑料)

  Examples:  

  1.Another performance like that and this team will be the laughing stock of the league.  

  2.His ineptness as a public official made him the laughingstock of the whole town.

  At the outset (idiom)

  ●At the very beginning.(起初,剛開始時)

Examples:  

  1.At the outset, we were told everything we had to do.  

  2.At the outset the problem seemed simple, but then it became quite complicated.

  A slap in the face (idiom)

  ●A sharp rebuke or rebuff.(一記耳光,打臉)

Examples:  

  1.Being criticized in front of my staff was a real slap in the face.  

  2.We thought it quite a slap in the face when they returned our letter unopened.
