Muster (verb)

●To bring together.(召集,集合)

Examples:  

1.Bring all the volunteers you can muster.  

2.They pushed the car with all the strength they could muster.

Hatchet man (noun)

●A person whose job is to do harsh and unpleasant things that other people do not want to do.

(打手,走卒)

Examples:  

1.She doesn't criticize her opponent's character directly. She has her hatchet men in the media do it for her.  

2.He always had a hatchet man do the dirty work for him.

Bare one's fangs (phrase)

● (Of an animal) bare its teeth aggressively.

(齜牙咧嘴,兇相畢露)

Examples:  

1.The vampire curled its top lip back and bared its fangs.  

2.He snapped, baring his fangs at me.

Go to the dogs (idiom)

●To go to ruin; to deteriorate shockingly.

(墮落,敗壞)

Examples:  

1.It is sad to that this once first-class hotel has gone to the dogs.  

2.He was a marvelous actor, but his drinking problems caused his career to go to the dogs.

Set the tone (idiom)

●If something someone says or does sets the tone for an event or activity, it establishes the way that event or activity will continue, especially the mood of the people involved.(定調)

Examples:  

1.The governor's speech set the tone for the whole conference.  

2.He was furious when she arrived late, and that set the tone for the whole evening.
