Lift off (phrasal verb)

●(Of an aircraft, spacecraft, or rocket) take off, especially vertically.

  (升空,(尤指垂直)起飛)

Examples:  

1.The spacecraft will lift off at noon.  

2.The helicopters lifted off at 10.30 hours.

Talk sb's ear/arm/head off (idiom)

●To talk so much as to exhaust the listener.

(喋喋不休,沒完沒了地講)

Examples:  

1.Whenever I run into her she talks my arm off.  

2.Stay away from Mr. Jones. He will talk your ear off if he gets a chance.

Look on sb/sth with sth (phrasal verb)

●To view someone or something with an attitude, such as scorn, favor, anger, disgust, etc.

(用…的眼光/態度看待某人或某事)

Examples:  

1.Bill looked on the food set before him with disgust.  

2.They looked on his behaviour with contempt.

Drunk as a lord (idiom)

●Very drunk.(酩酊大醉)

Examples:  

1.After his fifth cocktail, Tom was as drunk as a lord.  

2.Judy bought herself a case of beer and proceeded to get as drunk as a skunk.

Smattering (noun)

●A very small amount or number.(極少量)

Examples:  

1.There's only a smattering of people who oppose the proposal.  

2.He only knows a smattering of Japanese.
