  Set a precedent (idiom)

  ●to decide something that will be used as an example or rule to be followed in the future.(開創先例)

  Examples:  

  1.The ruling in the case is likely to set a precedent for how future cases are decided.  

  2.I'll do what you ask this time, but it doesn't set a precedent.

  Push (sth) forward (phrasal verb)

  ●To continue doing something or making progress in something, with effort or enthusiasm.

  (推進,推動)

  Examples:  

  1.Their research has pushed forward the frontiers of knowledge.  

  2.They were urged to push forward with their reforms.

  Seclusion (noun)

  ●The state of being alone, away from other people.

  (與世隔絕,隱居)

  Examples:  

  1.They love the seclusion of their garden.  

  2.In some societies women are kept in seclusion, so that they are hardly ever seen in public.

  Result in sth (phrasal verb)

  ●To cause something, or to produce something.

  (導致…,結果造成…)

  Examples:  

  1.Team work at its best results in a synergy that can be very productive.  

  2.A sudden change in temperature will inevitably result in rain.

  On the verge of sth/doing sth (idiom)

  ●Close to, on the brink of something/doing something.

  (瀕臨,行將,處於…的邊緣)

  Examples:  

  1.After weeks of failed experiments, I think we're finally on the verge of a breakthrough.

  2.I was on the verge of calling the doctor when he suddenly got better.
