近排社交媒體興起玩「10年挑戰」（10-Year Challenge），把自己現在的相片跟10年前相片放在一起比較，給別人看看自己的外觀轉變大不大。我在課堂上借題發揮，希望學生回顧10年前自己的學習狀態，並且定下10年挑戰，訂立一個要在2029年要達到的理想。

　　有學生希望能閱讀十多套英文小說，有些希望可看畢100多齣英文電影／紀錄片，並學習當中的結構及詞彙。聽到他們的十年大計，作為老師實在非常鼓舞。我鼓勵學生把他們的十年大計以文字及圖像表達出來，重點放在action verbs/dynamic verbs「行為動詞」。

　　學生不明白action verbs/dynamic verbs跟其他動詞的分別，試舉例說明：　　

　　Carol is puzzled.

　　Carol downloaded an app of a popular video game in order to understand the gaming habits of her students.

　　第一個句子不包含行為動詞。"is"只用作介紹描述Carol的謂詞形容詞，但句子內沒有實際描述她做過任何事情。

　　第二個句子中，"downloaded"作為行為動詞，顯示Carol下載了一個非常受歡迎的電子遊戲App，這一行為使她明白學生們的打機習慣。

　　要講述挑戰自己的十年大計，用action verbs配上恰當實淨（concrete）的noun phrases/adjective phrases 等等，除令句子更加豐富，還可為自己的十年計劃提供動力。例如，我們試比較以下兩個句子：

　　1. I watch the chosen reality shows and practise the target language in order to master 100 sets of authentic vocabulary and structures in 2019.

　　2. I feel that using a variety of resources can help me develop English skills in 2019.

　　第一句有兩組行為動詞"watch" 及 "practise "，並且量化了要求所達到的目的。第二句採用了非行為動詞"feel"，整個句子看來的意思不太實在。

　　Yet, goals shall allow us to manage the direction of change in our favour. I like to adjust my goals every day, make each day count by setting specific small goals to succeed； it helps me surpass my own expectations. To me, happiness comes from small achievement.
