這幾天收到很多電子聖誕卡及賀年卡，一般我們祝賀別人聖誕節快樂除了用Merry Christmas，其實還有很多千變萬化的祝賀語。

　　在早兩期的「繽Fun英語」我祝賀同學「I wish you many unconventional and memorable gifts and presents this Christmas.」有同學問為什麼不需要把have（有）放在you及many之間；又可不可以用hope代替wish。

　　基本文法結構是這樣，這類型的祝賀語中的動詞wish一般作為「及物動詞」（transitive verb）使用，之後可以直接承接一個／一組受詞或名詞詞組（object/noun phrase）。想掌握這類動詞的用法絕不困難，只需觀察例句，給自己作句練習，例如：

　　I wish you all every success with your

examinations.

　　I wish you a magical holiday.

　　They wish me all the best in my new

career.

　　「Wish」在這裏的用法已包括中文翻譯「有」的意思。在這些情況下，我們不可以用hope代替wish。

　　hope在祝賀語作動詞使用，有一種不肯定的祝福，一般是指一種盼望，一種對將來憧憬的盼望。例如：

　　I hope he will visit me next week.

　　I hope you have a great holiday.

　　I hope you enjoy a wonderful Christmas.

　　又例如：

　　I hope we meet again.是一種有可能的盼望，有機會發生的；但是如果我們用了wish: I wish we could meet again.便會變成一種不會發生，只是一種夢幻般的憧憬。
