2015年，中國已超越美國成為全球最大的電動汽車市場（「China overtook the US in 2015 to become the world's biggest market for electric cars.」），並於2017年底宣布延長對新能源車輛徵車輛購置稅至2020年。

　　「Overtook」為「overtake」的過去式，這字有超過的意思。其實，我們也可以在上文用「surpass」一字來替代「overtake」，即「China surpassed the US in 2015 to become the world's biggest market for electric cars.」

　　「surpass」有超越的意思。

　　除了電動汽車市場外，中國更有可能較預期早兩年，即於2022年超越美國成為全球最大的航空運輸市場（「China is likely to surpass the US as the world's biggest air travel market by as early as 2022, two years quicker than a previous prediction.」）。

　　不跟其他經濟體比較，筆者讀報得知深圳去年錄得逾2萬億人民幣的國內生產總值，當中四成來自創新產業，如科網、生物科技及電訊。這無疑是深圳經濟發展的一個里程碑，內地生產總值增加了8.8%，帶動整個珠江三角洲的發展（「Shenzhen has marked an economic milestone, surpassing the 2 trillion yuan GDP mark with 8.8 per cent growth in 2017」.）。
