  20-year-old

  ●由20 years old加連字符而成,可用作名詞或形容詞。要注意的是,加上連字符時,中間的years要變成單數。

例如:

  1.He is 15 years old也可說成He is a 15-year-old.

  (15-year-old用作名詞,即「15歲的人」);

  2.He is a 15-year-old boy.

(15-year-old用作形容詞)。

  Shake hands (with sb) (idiom)

  ●To clasp and shake the hand of someone as a greeting. ((與某人)握手)

  Examples:

  1.His hands were full, and I didn't know whether to shake hands with him or not.  

  2.On the way out, the president stopped to shake hands with many in the audience.

  Embody (verb)

  ●To be the best possible example of a particular idea, quality, or principle, especially a good one.

  (體現,具體表現)

  Examples:  

  1.The spirit of hope is embodied in the character Anna.  

  2.She embodied good sportsmanship on the playing field.

  Usher sth in (phrasal verb)

  ●To be at the start of a new period, especially when important changes or new things happen, or to cause important changes to start happening.

(開創,迎來)

  Examples:  

  1.These changes could usher in a period of dramatic economic growth.  

  2.His inventions helped usher in the era of skyscrapers.

  Attribute sth to sb/sth (phrasal verb)

  ●To believe that someone or something is the source of something.(把…歸因於…)

  Examples:  

  1.We attribute our success to your good advice.  

  2.The doctors have attributed the cause of the illness to an unknown virus.
