Fast-spreading poisonous caterpillars now conquer the Golden Beach

After the five beaches in Tsuen Wan are "conquered" by poisonous sea caterpillars, now the Golden Beach near Tuen Mun also "falls into enemy hand". Lifeguards seized several sea caterpillars in the beach's shallow-water area yesterday morning. Fortunately now swimmer was hurt. The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department immediately put up notices and made broadcast to alert swimmers. Some swimmers said they would keep their eyes open to keep themselves far away from sea caterpillars. Some other swimmers said they were afraid and would just take a sunbath at the beach. The Hong Kong Government Lifeguards General Union (HKGLGU) releases latest news on its Facebook page about beaches haunted by sea caterpillars, to keep the public updated.

Yesterday morning, lifeguards at the Golden Beach seized several sea caterpillars near the shore in the beach's protective enclosure behind the shark net. They put the caterpillars into a container and will drop them into the water outside the shark protection net when the tidal current is right, to let them drift with the current to a sea area far away from the beach.
