Applications for Lai Tsui Court of the Green Form Subsidised Home Ownership Scheme closed, expected to be 12 times oversubscribed
Applications for buying flats of Cheung Sha Wan's Lai Tsui Court of the Green Form Subsidised Home Ownership Scheme closed yesterday (Jan 10). Federation of Public Housing Estates expected some 30000 applications have been received, oversubscribed 12 times. Simplified application arrangement was piloted the first time for this project, but some applicants still felt the procedure was too complicated. Many applicants came to hand in their application forms yesterday but found the forms needed to be stamped by the offices of the housing estates they lived in. So they had to make one more trip back and forth. There was also a careless man who missed the opportunity by mistaking the application deadline. It is learned that the Housing Department is studying on how to further simplify the application procedure. Some concern groups suggest to bring in electronic application, or allow an interested applicant for a Home Ownership Scheme unit to make a declaration as well so he or she can have two lucky-draw chances.
The sales office for Lai Tsui Court in Kwun Tong's Pioneer Place stopped accepting application forms at 7.00 p.m. sharp yesterday. There was no more scene of applicants rushing in to hand in application forms, and office staffers closed the door and moved away the collection boxes punctually. An applicant arrived at 7.09 p.m. and had to return home without accomplishing anything. It turned out he mistook the deadline: "I though it would close at 10.00 p.m." There were not many people coming to have a look or submit forms yesterday.
